Wild Bison Stampede

Full Name

Wild Bison Stampede

Mark Miller

The American Bison, also known as the American Buffalo, is the true symbol of the American West. In the winter it will swing its massive head or paw snow away to gain access to grasses below. It was a once in a lifetime experience to witness this herd of wild bison stampeding. Mark Miller photographed this group in the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone National Park with a 600 mm lens from a safe distance, and an 'escape' route just in case! This stunning photo has been accepted for exhibit in the Smithsonian.
