Description

The American Kestrel, 'Falco sparverius', is the smallest and most common falcon of the Rockies. It can often be seen hovering over open fields feeding on insects, small rodents and birds. This image was taken with a Canon 300mm lens with a 2x extender. A white cloud lingered in the sky, yielding a pleasant background. This photo has been accepted for permanent exhibit in the Smithsonian.
