Lower FallsFull NameLower Falls Of The YellowstoneArtistSandra NykerkDescriptionViewed from the trail to Artist Point, late afternoon light washes across the top of the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River & illuminates the iron-stained canyon walls with a yellow glow. The Lower Falls heralds the beginning of the dramatic Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, which has been carved out of volcanic rock by the river during periods of episodic flooding. The juxtaposition of harder rock above the falls, and softer, more easily eroded material below, has allowed the Yellowstone River to creat the 308 foot waterfall at this geologic "nick point." This 11"x16" fine art photo is available matted to a size of 17"x23". |
